Meet Jordan Schneider

Jordan started ChinaTalk in 2017 and leads the editorial team.

Jordan is a fellow at the Rhodium Group and Center for New American Security. He previously worked at Chinese social media firm Kuaishou, global macro hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, Princeton University research organization Innovations for Successful Societies, and political risk firm Eurasia Group. He has a BA in history from Yale and an MA from Peking University, where he played Madison in a full student production of Hamilton.

  • Nicholas Welch

    Nicholas is an editor for ChinaTalk. He has worked as an open-source analyst for the State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research, a research assistant to Professor Oriana Skylar Mastro, and an intern for various organizations based in or serving people in Taiwan, Thailand, and North Korea. He has a BA in East Asian Studies from Stanford, and is now studying law at Duke.

  • Lily Ottinger

    Lily is ChinaTalk’s managing editor. She holds a degree in mathematics and studied Mandarin to fluency while teaching policy debate in Taiwan. She previously served as an assistant researcher to Professor Andres Gannon. Her research interests include Sino-Russian relations and the diplomatic techniques of unrecognized states.

    Ryan is an editor for ChinaTalk. He has worked as a research editor in Washington, DC, covering politics, economics, and emerging science and tech. He has a BA in government from Patrick Henry College and is currently a graduate student in Virginia Tech's Department of Science, Technology, and Society.

    Arrian is a J.D. candidate at Georgetown Law, author of the Chip Capitols newsletter, and an alum of Peking University’s Yenching Academy. He is an oft-injured cross-country runner turned triathlete, a lover of poems by Hafiz and Ferdowsi, novels by Stendhal and Yourcenar, the teachings of Confucius and Zhuangzi, as well as anything written by the Inklings.
